Biography

Patchy is a singer, songwriter, and producer from Scarborough, North Yorkshire. In addition to her solo album Illuminations released in 2013, Patchy has written and featured on tracks by producer and DJ Matt Darey ('Wolf'), Alex Farolfi, Domestic Technology, Spada and Metromind. Best known for her emotionally-charged cover of Robert Miles’ ‘One & One’ on YouTube, Patchy’s clear, soft and sweet vocal, is beautifully woven with rippling piano notes and bittersweet, rich cello. Patchy is set to re-release her 6 track EP 'Little World' on Squidge Records in 2024 and a brand new album is underway. Ethereal, resonant bass stabs, deep-pitched vocals, driving, live percussion and hypnotic melody take the listener on a lo-fi journey through a honeyed, cosmic stream in ‘Fireflies’, one of the signature tracks on the EP. 'Fireflies' is illustrative of Patchy’s true, musical characteristics heard in her debut album, ‘Illuminations’ which was released in 2013. Patchy derives her inspirations from established musical wonders such as Kate Bush, conceptual electronic-pop Goldfrapp, Robyn, Ane Brun, Royksopp, as well as Norwegian singer-songwriter of soulful electronica, Emilie Nicolas, fellow northerner Little Boots and the 80's Prince-inspired sounds of Niki and The Dove. Patchy has recently been involved in an ancestral folk project Weaver Birds with long-time friend Adam Gardner and released their first album Short Stories on Bandcamp, which waves the tales of their ancestors.
