Biography

Percussionist and cimbalist HKKS has released both improvised and notated music in jazz, baroque and classical genres for labels like ECM, BIS, Da Capo, Deutsche Grammophon and Ultron. He has won numerous prizes including CIEM in Geneva and the Norwegian Grammy for his solo album OPEN. As a soloist he has appeared with major orchestras like Philharmonia Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Norwegian National Opera Orchestra, Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, BIT20 Ensemble, Kristiansand Symfoniorkester, The Norwegian Soloists' Choir, Lubeck Symphony Orchestra and Bern Symphony Orchestra. His chamber music partners include jazz musicians Misha Alperin, Bugge Wesseltoft, Arve Henriksen and Christian Wallumrød Ensemble, classical musicians Martin Fröst, Daniel Hope, Tanja Tetzlaff, Christian Tetzlaff, Kristian Bezuidenhout, Ole Edvard Antonsen, Florian Donderer and Sharon Kam. HKKS has collaborated with composers like Georges Aperghis, Henrik Hellstenius, Per Nørgård, Iannis Xenakis, Rolf Wallin, Johannes Harneit, Brett Dean, Jon Øivind Ness and George Crumb.
