Pernille Bévort - tenor- and sop. saxophone, flutes, clarinets, composer. Pernille Bévort has always been a unique person on the Danish jazz scene, known for her intense and creative playing. In addition to being an original composer and bandleader, Pernille Bévort is an excellent saxophonist who is much in demand in both large and small orchestral contexts. Her saxophone playing has been enjoyed in the Monday Night Big Band (both Danish and Swedish), Bohuslän Big Band (with e.g. Maria Schneider), Odense Jazz Orchestra, the sextet Sisters of Jazz and the colorful Maluba Orchestra (with e.g. Marilyn Mazur, Fredrik Lundin), among others. As a frequent substitute in the various Danish professional big bands, she has performed with a lot of international artists (Randy Brecker, Tony Coe, Putte Wickman, Tim Hagans, John Scofield, Richard Bona and Charlie Watts). At present Pernille Bévort is band leader in her trio Bévort 3 and the septet Radio Bévort. Pernille has received among others the Ben Webster Prize and Dec. 21st, 2023 she received an honorary award from the Danish Conductor Association. Four years in a row Pernille has been nominated for a Danish Music Awards Jazz within different categories (2020-2023). Bévort 3 was awarded a grant as ‘Band of the Year’ 2022 (Danish Music Awards Jazz dec. 2022). Pernille Bévort was also honored on September 4, 2024 with one of this year's honorary awards from the composer association Autor - for her creative work as jazz composer.
