Biography

Czech Republic-based pop-rock band Support Lesbiens earned recognition for performing their songs in English, with a hard rock sound forged during the upswing of alternative rock worldwide in 1992. Their first full-length album, 1994's Medicine Man, was popular, but the wariness of the Czech pop music-buying masses toward homegrown bands singing in a different language kept the group from achieving true superstar status. Support Lesbiens eventually released Regeneration in 2001 and Tune da Radio in 2002, and over the years began consolidating their place in Czech hearts. With their next album, Midlife, in 2004, they were able to do something no other Czech band had done before them. The single "Cliché," from the aforementioned full-length album, became the first number one single for a Czech band singing in English and finally solidified Support Lesbiens as one of the country's biggest names. The band's next full-length release, a collection of Support Lesbiens' best entitled "Greatest Hits 1993-2007," was a brisk seller, hitting the Top Ten on the Czech Republic's album chart. After changes in the band's lineup, they are still actively creating new music. Their last release, the successful pop-rock album "Glow” was positively recognized by the audience. Five singles reached the top of the Czech charts from “Glow” which is an unusal accomplishment.
