Biography

Portmore, St. Catherine base SingJay Dane Salmon aka “Booba Starr” is an up and coming performer in the reggae music industry. With an immense talent and versatility, Booba covers a wide range of styles across the reggae spectrum ranging from today’s contemporary reggae to the old school classic of the eighties and nineties. Whether dancehall, Roots, or Culture, he seamlessly transition from one style the next without skipping a beat. Booba interests in music began in high school when he started writing poems and songs and began to entertained friends and family. Booba interests in music took on a more serious tone as he began to hone his skills and talent by performing on local sound systems; it was this experience that gave him the confidence and the awakening that he wanted to entertain people through music. During 2010, Booba was introduced to Trevor "TC" Clarke, producer and owner of Jafrica Records, who produced his first single "Things Change". During that same period, Booba also produced other recordings with other producers. He has voiced several singles, “Prison Neva mek fi Dawg”, "Hackle the Body", "Long-Go-LaLa", "Neva Easy", "Run Jamaica", "Eighties Gallis", "Gyal Question", "Another One Gone", "Mix Up" and his latest release "Gun Dawg" on the Jafrica Label. Inspired by The Most High King Selassie I and life experience, Booba has matured as an individual and a musician and look forward to a bright future.
