Described by critics as subtle, lovely and precise, Gemma Sherry's voice has put a refreshing take on the American Songbook standards. Gemma discovered her love for jazz growing up in outback Australia while playing saxophone at jam sessions with down-under jazz scene veterans. After leading her Acid jazz/Neo soul band in Melbourne she moved to Harlem to study jazz vocal improvisation where she sung with the Billy Harper Vocal Group at the New School. While living in NYC her love for disco & house flourished and led to a number of house music releases on a variety of European record labels. This included having a song listed as one of the Top 5 tracks of the Summer by MTV. A musical polyglot without borders Gemma is now back singing her first love, Jazz. Her newly released debut jazz album “Songs I Love” is a tribute to her favorite jazz ballads from the 1920s through the 1950s. Singing touching, often melancholy songs her voice perfectly captures the emotion that has made these songs timeless classics.
