Biography

Avery Write, formerly known as Aerial, has taken creativity to a new level. By combining a self-published novel, Heroic, with a companion hip hop album of the same name, Avery has produced an entirely new form of expression in the hip hop realm. His novel, Heroic, is the story of a young black sword wielding hero who battles with not only depression but whether or not to do the right thing in a post apocalyptic world where heroism had been outlawed. His accompanying album gives listeners insight into the protagonist’s thoughts by telling the story from a Revenant’s perspective. Upon the release of the novel in December 2016, Avery Write opened for Chicago's own Lupe Fiasco in San Francisco with a performance of the Heroic stage show, reminiscent of Lin Manuel-Miranda’s Hamilton, as a hip hop musical that dazzled in its California debut. Oh, and all while wielding swords. With the music from the show yet to be released, Avery Write has been working diligently without a release date in sight. Enter: HEROISH. A 6-track appetizing EP that loosely follows Avery’s own Heroic journey as he goes from rapid fire rhymes on the opening track “Can’t Save Y’all” Featuring fellow Sacramento artist Esso P, until eventually he answers the call to be an activist with lines on “Die Young” like: “If I only talk about me, then I might as well be a catalyst.” Heroish is Avery Write’s teaser to his magnum-opus: Heroic. And if Heroish is any indication, Heroic will be well worth the wait.
