Biography

Cara Dawson is a harpist who plays across London and Berlin. She is a graduate of renowned institutions: Chethams School of Music where she received the Ida Caroll Award for Strings, Guildhall School as a Henry Wood Trust Scholar, and most recently Trinity Laban where she studied under the tutelage of Gabriella Dall’Olio. An experienced orchestral player and chamber musician, she has performed in most of the UK’s most prestigious venues including Barbican Concert Hall, Royal Festival Hall and Bridgewater Hall. In recent years, Cara has become a passionate performer of new music, and regularly works with composers to write new works for harp solo and ensemble. On multiple occasions these have incorporated multi-disciplinary facets such as theatre, electronics, spoken word, improvisations and video projections. In 2018 Cara co-founded the composer/performer collective 'red panel' which aims to circumvent the conventional concert tradition by focussing solely on creating its own works and airing these in intimate settings.
