After 7 years of violin studies in his childhood, Åsmund Feidje started the experimental Norwegian rock group RAIN in 1967. In 1969, this group was engaged by the National Theater to take part in the pop musical "Din egen vri". Since then, Åsmund has mainly worked with theater music, both alone and in collaboration with the RAIN members. In 1971/72 he played electric bass and electric violin in the Terje Rypdal Ensemble. In addition, the band consisted of Terje Rypdal, Brynjulf Blix, Jon Christensen, and Inger Lise Rypdal. 1979-84 he was a musician and composer in the contemporary ensemble Octoband together with Guttorm Kittelsen, Kjell Samkopf and Rob Waring. Åsmund took part in numerous and varied productions as a musician at the Nationaltheatret in Oslo, tasks which gave him experience in many types of music. He also had to learn to master new instruments, i.a. banjo, mandolin, Indian sitar, flamenco guitar and more. Åsmund got a permanent employment as a musician at the theater in 1973. Since the end of the 1970s, Åsmund has worked more and more as a composer, and in 1989/90 he took a year off to study with the Polish contemporary composer Bogusław Schaeffer, professor of composition at the Mozarteum in Salzburg . After this he has written some chamber music for soloists and various ensembles. This music has been recorded on the label LAWO Classics with outstanding musicians. The CD was released at the beginning of June 2023. Artist photos: Knut Bry/Tinagent
