"Whitney Mongé — a former busker who started with seven cover songs and a lot of guts, a woman who writes emotional songs for people who listen to the words, a role model for young brown girls who want to play music, a super smart college dropout, an avid gardener in her neighborhood P-Patch, a weed-smoking collector of vinyl records, a better pool player than you — might just be Seattle’s next big star." --Bill Reader, The Seattle Times Aug 5th 2018 Whitney Mongé was raised with rhythm and blues in her blood, but while growing up in the Pacific Northwest, her music was heavily influenced by the rock scene of the 90's coining her own genre, Alternative Soul. With a raspy break at the edges of her rich and sultry voice, she has drawn comparisons to Alabama Shakes lead singer, Brittany Howard and Tracy Chapman. She was featured in the award winning Find Your Way: a Busker’s Documentary starring Chris Bellew of The Presidents Of The United States Of America and world renowned violinist Joshua Bell in 2014. The film catapulted Mongé's career off the streets and on to the stage leading her to performances with Ziggy Marley, KT Tunstall, Mayer Hawthorne, and Patrick Sweany. She has three releases available: Heartbeat (2011), Steadfast (2014) and Stone (2017). Her upcoming EP Carry On will available online November 27, 2018.
