Krissy Blanko is an indie rapper, singer and songwriter. Born in Oakland, California Krissy (aka Kristen Washington) recognized her voice at a very young age. Blanko started singing at just three years old and by the age of five, was featured on the record “It Don’t Stop” by Bay Area legends, The Conscious Daughters. She continued her passion for singing by performing in local talent shows, church choirs, at weddings and even funerals. It wasn’t until 2007 when she discovered her gift of rap by penning descriptive lyrics & boisterous punchlines that people were immediately receptive to. Since then, Krissy has cultivated her sound by meshing hardcore raps and sultry singing while incorporating elements of hip-hop, R&B & Pop. She’s also a classically trained mezzo soprano and linguaphile so she loves mixing those elements into her music as well. Her skills have landed her appearances on the popular Team Backpack/World Underground cypher series where she’s accumulated over 1.2 million views on her performances. Krissy Blanko has been featured on Netflix’s Rhythm & Flow, MTV’s Rapfix, The Source Magazine, The WakeUp Show with Sway & King Tech, 106.1 KMEL among other blogs and radio stations. Inspired by rap queens like Nicki Minaj, Foxxy Brown, Lil Kim, & Cardi B, Krissy’s music is unapologetically focused on female empowerment.
