Positive Spin

Biography

Freddy McQuinn is a singer, songwriter, musician, producer and DJ from Paris, who lived and created music in London for more than fifteen years. There, he met his musical sidekick DJ Simbad and together they recorded under the names; 'Twitch', Heal, Les Barons, until the time came for Marathon Men to hit the racks and smash dance floors everywhere. Their remixes and 12's can always be found on top playlists from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Laurent Garnier, Norman Jay, Moody Man, King Brit... In 2005, they released their album “Blessings” on Chillifunk Rec.  Over the years, Freddy has collaborated and played with artists, such as Keziah Jones, Talvin Singh, M (Mathieu Chedid), Julien Loureau, Mehdi Haddab, Smadj, Juan Rozoff, Sandra Nkaké, DJ Shalom, Pavan (Foreign Beggars), Z Star to name but a few. In 2009, returning to a more organic approach with a slight dose of electronic, Freddy released Exile on Brick Lane, a heartfelt journey through his experiences of London's East End. A few years later, the album Positive Spin came out. Recorded mostly live and featuring la crème de la crème of Parisian musicians; Cyril Atef, Maxime Zampieri, Christophe "Disco" Mink, Seb Martel, Sandra Nkaké, Fixi, Nicolas Liesnard, Ben Molinaro... Now based in Rome IT and after a long hiatus, Freddy is back with his new EP Here Right Now. Check it out!
