Tholos is a synthwave producer from the Bay Area. After years playing in bands, he thought he was finally done with music. Enter the pandemic. In 2021, he released his first album, Alone in Oceanside. A synthwave album that owes a lot to Marvel 83, Kiile, and The Future Kids but filtered through Tholos own California upbringing. The beach and the deserts are never far away. The songs pair perfectly with driving late at night, surrounded by neon and exhaust fumes. The highlight of the album was "Imperial Valley." A propulsive slice of synthwave that was featured on popular NewRetrowave channel. For the followup 2022 album, Adventureland, Tholos turned to one of his original inspirations in synthwave: MPM Soundtracks. The nine songs of the album capture some of MPM's essence, a bright hopeful vibe that's unafraid of melody. Still the album takes the user on an epic journey, optimistic, yearning, reflective, and finally nostalgic. Enjoy the ride.
