Manchester-based Mac Frey blends groove-based soul music with soaring, emotive vocals. Originally born in Paisley, just outside Glasgow, he moved to the north of England and grew up in a household overflowing with different styles and genres of music. He trained classically as an opera singer, before later writing, collaborating and producing with different artists around Manchester and London. His influences range from John Martyn to James Blake, from Vaughan Williams to D’Angelo. Under different project names, he has supported artists such as Matt Corby, Michael Kiwanuka and Sam Fender and has had his music premiered on BBC Radio 1 and Elton John’s ‘Rocket Hour’. "He has that edge that other rising artists struggle to supply...one of Manchester's best kept secrets" - Clash Magazine He returns with his debut single in 2020.
