Ortwin Wendt is the driving force behind the passionate, and genre-free project United Duality. Based in Celle, Germany, Wendt leads with skilful guitar work and strength of songwriting. In addition, he fills out every single with layers of instrumentation and colour – often through collabs with other vocalists; always to beautifully engaging and uplifting results. Despite a notably varied string of influences, United Duality makes music with clear links to and inspiration from the likes of The Beatles and other pop-rock creatives of the sixties and seventies. You can hear this approach across releases – from the experimental rock soundscape of Purple Heron to the collaborative folk delicacy of See-Saw, there’s something enjoyably familiar about the United Duality sound; an admirable sense of identity runs throughout everything. In recent years, several releases have made the airwaves of numerous indie radio stations. The historically rooted Sexy Sadie Passed Away and the instrumental I've Had Enough even made it to number one. An excerpt of Peanuts could be heard on German's TV channel VOX. Now, 3 years after the release of his debut album Enlightening Snapshots, Wendt teamed up with UK singer-songwriter Winkandwoo to pick up where Wendt left off. Turn The Tide is a calm, peaceful folk tune. The thought-provoking lyrics ask the question, how can we, as individuals and a society, change our fate? For Wendt this release is a positive step in his fight against depression.
