Biography

Stephen Davismoon is a composer and sound-artist based in Manchester, England. Born in East London, he has been fascinated by the emotional, psychological and expressive power of music and sound for as long as he can remember. Stephen has composed for a wide variety of media: solo instrumental; chamber; orchestral; vocal and electroacoustic/sound installation works and has had performances in Brazil, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Iceland, Italy, Lithuania, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, UK, Ukraine, Uruguay and the USA. He has worked with some notable artists and institutions along the way including: the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra’s Ensemble 10/10; BBC Philharmonic Orchestra; Clark Rundell; Michael Seal; Roberto Fabbriciani; Rohan de Saram; Die Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart; Scottish Opera; Tempo Reale; Das Experimentalstudio der Heinrich Strobel Stiftung, Rarescale, Columbia College Chicago, Conservatorio di Bologna, CCMIX/UPIC Studios (Paris, France). He remains captivated by the unifying communicative capacity of music across all genres and histories. Many of his works combine traditional acoustic instruments and voices with live, interactive electronics – seeking to create unified musical worlds containing endless interpretative possibilities for the performer and listener.
