Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, "Kai Cartier" otherwise known as "KC", was exposed to R&B from his mother, and a wide variety of Conscious Hip-Hop from his father’s side of the family. He began to study the art forms religiously from a young age. By the age of eleven, he was already writing music and stacking journals worth of songs. Moving from state to state he eventually came to reside in Houston, Texas and began finally recording in early January 2018. From that point on, he would then go on to drop three songs in the span of two months and quickly rack up a total of over 300,000 plays on Soundcloud and Spotify respectively before graduating high school. Staying relatively quiet on social media while still gaining traction, Kai Cartier and long-time friend and producer “EssayCheye” worked on pioneering new vibrations behind the scenes. The result of these efforts manifested themselves in the form of new cadences, new approaches to rapping, and a genuinely unique sound. Despite dealing with strenuously perilous situations from betrayals to stabbings and shootouts, KC began to further isolate himself within the studio where quarantine only helped him refine his sound, & an ear for ambient and pulsing vibrations.
