Having immigrated to the U.S from Cologne, Germany at the age of 5 with a French Mother and German Father, Fortified Mind spent the next 25 years growing up in Connecticut, North Carolina and Texas. Most of his golden years were in Wilmington, N.C from the ages of 11-24 where he rediscovered Hip-Hop, Breaks and Miami Bass in the early 90’s. Pierre started writing lyrics in 1996 with the nickname “Pee” (from Pierre) but quickly changed it to Check Mate, due to Prodigy of Mobb Deep already calling himself Pee and PMD also. Later, he called himself Pangea, to represent his multicontinental experience of life though eventually became Fortified Mind. His first recording was in 2006 in Austin Texas. In 2012 (after he had moved back to Europe in 2009 where he had started making beats) which launched him into a productive phase which hasn’t let up since to this day) He brought out his first mixtape in 2011 and later dropped his first project called Cruel Therapy. Having worked Certain.Ones’ main producer Wann Sklobi in 2013, he created Beast Mode, The Art of Raw with Ones’ Aussie rapper Dzl in 2015 and soon later joined CERTAIN.ONES based in NYC (though worldwide) in 2016.
