KayOwe was raised in Watts CA. Incarceration at the age of 16 prolonged his dreams as an up and coming music artist. While locked down in prison on an 11year sentence since the age of 16 KayOwe begin recording his music over a cellphone rapping about the struggles of prison life. His first two mixtape was recorded in prison thru a cellphone in which he mixed and mastered all himself and released while still in prison. Before The Release has all the bells and whistles, the streets and the struggles. Halfway home was the anticipation of a Real One returning home after being taken off the streets for over a decade. And with the newly released mixtape FREE KayOwe lets the world in on a personal level, post-release, of his daily struggles and hunger to provide his family with a better life.
