Whispering XXI

Biography

CruSz's "Whispering" is without doubt one of the best pearls of French Touch 1.0. Composed in 1999, released in 2000 in independent networks, it is one of the classic underground club tracks of the time, making the consensus of Le Rex Club in Paris, the Limelight in NYC, the Womb in Tokyo or the Pacha cub in Ibiza. Under the influence of the elegant sound of Motorbass and the soulful hip-hop of DJ Premier, "Whispering" clearly fits into the electronic movement of French producers at the start of the XXIst century. With an Emulator sampler as a notepad, an Atari as conductor, this track is composed in a small home studio in the suburbs of Paris. For hours, days, CruSz searches for the right loop, wants to convey the right emotion, tries to stand out from other productions - necessarily too funky or too dancefloor - thanks to a muted bass and a repetitive voice at will. Delicate, airy, completely enveloping, the new mix produced by CruSz "Whispering XXI", remastered by Alex Gopher in September 2020, lives up to expectations. Like a kind of Four Tet ahead of its time, initially released in 2000 (2 years before Metro Area's "Miura"), the hypnotic character of this music recalls the best hours of deep and avant-garde hexagonal techno. This track has influenced a lot The Toxic Avenger in the 2000's who did an incredible electro remix. Total rarity, hard to find on vinyl, here is a rereading 20 years later which proves that this piece has not aged a bit.
