Biography

Flim (a.k.a Enrico Wuttke) is a German electronic music composer based in Dresden. Born in 1971 in Muehlhausen in the former East Germany, Flim started his musical career as a keyboardist in various Post-Rock and Jazz bands. Under the influence of albums such as Brian Eno’s “Thursday Afternoon”, Chick Corea’s “Children’s Songs” and Talk Talk’s “Laughing Stock”, he soon began to record his own music. Flim was one of the first on the computer-based music scene to use piano as a primary element in his compositions. His official debut album “Given You Nothing” was released on the German label Tomlab in 2002 to International acclaim. The album “Ohne Titel 1916”, recorded for the Dutch label Plinkity Plonk, centered on a family tragedy and marked a major turning point in his music to a darker, sparser sound. While bearing little resemblance to the modern classical genre, Flim’s music nonetheless retains its focus on the sound of pure piano. His signature tonal landscape is achieved by combining this focus with the heavier elements from the worlds of experimental, drone and – pop music.
