Cali native Kapo delivers airy reggaeton hits with his smooth vocal style and yearning lyrics; after issuing debut mixtape TU OG FAVORITO in 2023, he had his breakout single with 2024's Top Ten-charting "Ohnana." Hailing from Cali, Colombia, vocalist Juan David Loaiza Supúlveda began writing and releasing reggaeton under the alias of Kapo, emerging with the sensual 2019 debut single "Humo." The smooth, breathy vocals and infectious melodies soon caught the attention of La Industria Inc's Juan Diego Medina -- he was quickly signed to the label, and the duo set to work on curating the singer's artistic development. Coining his signature "yo soy tu kapo baby" catchphrase, the vocalist issued a strong run of melodic singles through 2021, including the breakup anthem "Vuela" (with Mati Gómez) and the Reykon collaboration "Mochilera," a breezy anthem which became one of the vocalist's earliest successes. Further success arrived with 2022 Nanpa Básico collaboration "Pelinegra" as he continued to issue collaborative work alongside artists like ROBI, Nath, and La Gabi. In April 2023 he dropped the mixtape TU OG FAVORITO: though technically a debut full-length project, the LP acted more as a collection of early work, compiling eight of the vocalist's singles and two new tracks. Kapo's momentum began to grow significantly in late 2023, and he made his debut on Colombian streaming charts with a feature on Esteban Rojas' "Bulevar."
