Biography

Remix team probably best known for their work with the Doobie Brothers, an unlikely teaming which saw the soft rockers back in the charts after several years absence. Based in Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, England, Sure Is Pure are built around lynchpin DJ Kelvin Andrews, and they have also undertaken remixing chores for INXS, Yothu Yindi (‘Treaty’) and other major league outfits. They have recorded in their own right, including the 1991 EP Proper Tunes for their own imprint Gem. The same label would also be the first home to their ‘Is This Love Really Real?’ single, featuring vocalist Aphrique, before it transferred to Union City in 1992. Again for Gem they picked up and remixed Unique featuring Kim Cooper’s ‘Danube Dance’. In 1994 Andrews formed an indie rock band called Camp Carnival, who recorded a version of Sure Is Pure’s ‘Grind Zone Blues’ (from the Out To Lunch EP), and signed to Vinyl Solution.
