Daniel Carr is a composer of modern classical music. His music has been described as “…undoubtedly of the 21st century in terms of technique and virtuosity yet retaining the elegant lyricism, driving rhythms and colorful harmonies which audiences love to hear and musicians love to perform.” His music has been performed by many wonderful musicians such as flutist François Minaux, sopranos Jessica Petrus and Mindy Ella Chu, Benefic Piano Trio and pianists Tina Toglia, Christina Wright-Ivanova, Talman Welle and Mayumi Tayake. 
 Daniel grew up in a musical home — all four of his siblings and both parents played music. His father was a piano tuner and repairman so there were always several pianos, organs and other instruments (in various states of disrepair) throughout their home. It was not unusual for several family members to be practicing different pieces of completely different genres, on different instruments, in different rooms throughout the house at the same time. Fortunately, there were also times when the family played together in ensembles — inspiring Daniel’s lifelong love of chamber music. 
 Daniel played violin and piano when he was younger but did not become seriously interested in music composition until his mid-20s. His primary music teachers were his mother, pianist Naomi Carr and Dr. Donald Rankin of the University of Rhode Island. He also completed courses in Theory and Counterpoint at Hunter College but never formally completed his Music Degree.
