We Shall Never Speak

Biography

“HOO is UK artist Nick Holton who’s amazing and unique blend of cinematic post rock and psych are stately and exude grace. This music is unlike anything I’ve heard in recent years. Combine the space rock of Spacemen 3 with the dream pop dynamics of Slowdive and you may have an inkling of what this sounds like. But even then, you won’t completely define Holton’s sound. It is achingly lovely in parts. Dreamy psych, Krautrock, & yet, I hear sprightly elements of British folk winding through like a lazy river. I am not sure how it’s possible to transform synthetic machine music into warm tones, but Holton has pulled it off. "We Shall Never Speak" was co-written by Neil Halstead who Holton has worked before on the excellent Black Hearted Brother (& production on Sleeping on Roads & Palindrome Hunches).” by Elizabeth Klisiewicz 2021

HOO began when Holton got a hefty amount of analogue synths & started recording spontaneous nonsense at his studio, Oaki Room. Just instrumental for a long spell until adding vocals to a couple of ideas which became the backbone to debut. Music & broader life blend into one another, close friends like Paul Blewett, Ian McCutcheon, Jackie Oates Neil Halstead & recently Farmer Dave Scher of Beachwood Sparks are always on hand & so the records.
