MEGATRUH SOUNDSYSTEM is a music project by Ari Hamzah, Arumtaka, and Kiki Pea. Previously, they played music in different groups. Based in Yogyakarta - Indonesia, this project adopts elements of Jamaican music such as Reggae, Ska, and Dub to explore sounds and texts. The word Megatruh has many interpretations both in its meaning and sound. As quoted from Javanese philosophy, MEGATRUH is one of the Macapat songs which describes the human condition at the time of death. The word MEGATRUH comes from the words 'megat/pegat' (separated) and 'ruh', which means the separation between the soul and body. 
 Traditionally, the characters in Megatruh macapat songs are stories containing feelings of regret, concern, and sadness. The MEGATRUH SOUNDSYSTEM's lyrics don't sing classical Javanese songs but they tell more about crime stories, tragic deaths, mass murders, gangster stories, and others. On the other hand, MEGATRUH SOUNDSYSTEM also sings about the romance of youth and the social excitement of the young generation. The musical project collaborates with musicians across genres and artists across disciplines.
