“It’s not about the music! If it was, I would be hiding in my studio and never come out. It’s about where the music will take me, the people I’ll meet and what it allows me to do with my life. It’s my purpose, my language, my tool to do good on this planet.” VONCKEN is a songwriter, producer, and singer from Amsterdam. After spending half of his lifetime in the music business, at the age of 34 VONCKEN is broadening his horizon by spreading his music beyond the borders of his home country. Bart Voncken started in music at the age of 17 taking part in Hollands very first reality-tv-talent-show ‘Starmaker’ in 2001. The show was the start of pop group K-otic and resulted in masses of hysterical fans wherever the group was announced to appear. They sold over half a million records, won many big awards and played every big venue in the country. VONCKEN followed up his successful debut by studying songwriting and business at the Rock Academy in Tilburg. A clear sign that his focus was not only on being on stage. So it happened that he took his career behind the scenes by working as an A&R (artist development) at SONY Music Netherlands and writing songs for many successful Dutch artists. Mysterious Ways is the first single from the upcoming EP containing songs inspired by The Weepies, Chris Stapleton and Fleetwood Mac among others.
