Kagiso “Kaygee” Pitsong was born in the mid-80s in Mafikeng, North West, South Africa. After graduating from high school, he pursued his passion for sound engineering at Damelin Campus. In 2005, Kagiso moved to Johannesburg to complete his studies at the Academy of Sound Engineering, aiming to make valuable connections in the music industry. Kagiso began his career in 2006, exploring a wide range of musical styles including hip hop, kwaito, and afro soul. In 2009, he produced DJ Sbu’s hit single “I Am Music” featuring Lungelo. The following year, he released the house track “Cuferu,” which was featured on “Various Shades Vol.1,” compiled by Lars Behrenroth from Deeper Shades Recordings. The track became an international hit, reaching number 23 on the Traxsource Top 100 in its first week of release. Kagiso also had a string of releases on Baainar Digital, which helped elevate his profile in the South African house scene and globally. This success marked a significant breakthrough and turning point in his career as a producer and DJ.
