Legion East is one in a million when it comes to music talent, because he is not only a singer but also a songwriter and motion graphics designer, who is among the artists that have revolutionised Uganda’s music industry. Real name Samson Buyondo, Legion East is a songwriter and singer known for jams like ‘Mary Jane’, ‘Mutima’, ‘Darling’, and others, although he now has out a new EP titled My City. Specialising in the genres of dancehall, RnB and Hip-Hop, Legion East has released a number of dope tracks on his EP which include; ‘My City’, ‘Nawe’, Winner Ft. Robi Taste, plus ‘Frenemy’ Ft. Robi Taste, Checkmate Boss and Choma Choma. He started doing professional music in 2020 when he released his first audio on December 4th, 2020. Having been a poet while still at high school, Legion East says he was inspired to discover and nurture his talent by fallen celebrated Goodlyfe singer Moses Sekibogo, who was popularly known as Mowzey Radio. During his last year at campus when everything was falling apart for him because he was broke, battling with retakes plus a huge tuition deficit, Legion East one day skipped lectures to go for a studio recording session and that was when he recorded ‘Mutima’, a song that has since become a favourite amongst several Ugandan Afropop music lovers.
