ALPACA ENSEMBLE is a flexible group with a variable instrumentation. The core consists of Else Bø (piano), Sigrid Elisabeth Stang (violin), and Marianne Baudouin Lie (cello). Alpaca are as happy with large-scale as they are with smaller productions, as long as the focus is on innovative, genre-defying contemporary music, developing repertoire that transcends established artforms. Through working with practitioners in a wide range of styles artforms and styles, Alpaca Ensemble is a meeting point and employer for the freelance community in the Trondheim region of Norway. They initiate a wide range of projects and make a vital contribution to the cultural programme in the area, engaging with the wider musical community on both a professional and amateur level. Alpaca acts as a catalyst for experimentation and innovation in fields not generally supported or challenged by established institutions. Alpaca Ensemble aim to be a melting pot for experimentalism, fostering creativity by bringing together impulses from classical music and jazz as well as popular and contemporary music. The also engage widely with theatre and visual art. Alpaca have released ten albums, including a CD for children, five records in collaboration with Eirik Hegdal, and a CD of Lene Grenagers chamber music, which was nominated for the Spellemannspris in 2010. Their latest release Rehnqvist & Lindquist came out on August 6, 2021! Cover photo: Ronny Manuel Danielsen
