In these uncertain and transcending times, American-Puerto Rican rapper Beanz is one of many progressive artists seeking to capture the broadest issues through her introspective and intimate songwriting. It goes without saying that the industry is in need of intellectual female lyricists who create conceptual music that feels both timeless and timely. By the age 11, Beanz was already a self-professed artist; writing poetry to calm the ease of her struggles within her life. With a father who was incarcerated, her mother assumed the sole parenting role in her household until her teenage years. Coming from an inner-city background, Beanz developed a passion for hip hop and decided to take her artistry seriously by releasing videos, freestyles, and mixtapes. In 2019, Beanz was invited to star in Netflix’s first music contestant show, ‘Rhythm and Flow’. Her talent caught the attention of judges (Cardi B, T.I. and Chance the Rapper) during the New York auditions where she was praised for her unique ‘flow and lyrical quality’. The show was a worldwide sensation. Among the 50 contestants eliminated, Beanz was a consistent fan favorite throughout, earning her notable media attention. Known in her hometown as “that girl who was spitting rhymes in the back of the bus”, Beanz was always destined for a creative path. As expected, her talent came naturally, she began studying the art of lyricism and honing her craft into the wordsmith you hear today.
