Jody Bigfoot is an anomaly and a renegade in life and in art. His debut solo project Duszt challenges tropes and preconceptions of contemporary hip hop whilst building on the political roots of the genre with a refreshing addition of spiritual esotericism and eastern philosophy. Duszt the album is accompanied and complimented by a feature-length music video filmed in Japan where Bigfoot previously lived for a year (2011-2012) honing his video editing craft. The movie itself is funded, directed, edited and produced by himself with the assistance of one cameraman as well as being brought to life by the music production skills and instrumental talent of German prodigy Tandaro. Bigfoot experienced a spiritual epiphany listening to New Zealand reggae and Maori roots band Trinity Roots, which convinced him that the way forward was to spread this positivity and emotion through music. That seminal moment provided the inspiration behind the moniker of Trinity Lo Fi, a group he spearheaded alongside Zico MC spawning five albums and five EPs in a prodigious five year stint. After exhausting the extremely niche genre of 8-bit reggae hip hop, Bigfoot has gone solo and is exploring more accessible genres. Initially focusing on adding an instrumental, artistic and conscious flare to trap music as well as working with Konchis’ unique hip hop beats alongside Nobull, with a new group Lucid Giants, whose debut album Artificial Ignorance launches later in 2021.
