Biography

www.fredselva.com Fred Selva is a composer, producer, vibraphonist, percussionist, electronic artist, noise collector. He began his career as a clown with his father and started studying percussion and piano at age 8. Later, he earned a Bachelor's in Percussion at UFMG, exploring classical and contemporary music, jazz, improvisation and quickly began performing with some of his favorite musicians. In 2015, he was awarded by BDMG Instrumental, released his first album "A Estranheza e O Poliglota" and performed in major music circuits. He was later commissioned by the Savassi Festival to compose a concert for three vibraphones. He lived in Buenos Aires, studied vibraphone and jazz at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory, performed with leading Argentine musicians, joined Ezequiel Mantega's "Orquesta Sin Fin." There he also delved into electronics, sound design, and production. He founded the “Oculto” collective and joined trapper Khea's band. In 2018, he released his second album, "Oculto" produced by Frederico Heliodoro. Back in Belo Horizonte, he spent the pandemic teaching Ableton Live, studying electronic engineering, building of synths and producing music and shows for various artists. In 2022, he joined "O Teatro Mágico" for a quick Brazilian tour. Selva is currently touring with Cirque du Soleil "Bazzar” with which he performed more than 500 shows in 3 continents. “O Arpão do Irreal” is his third album and it's coming out now, with Argentinian poet Tristán Barbosa.
