Biography

Grand Prize Winner for MTV’s “Steal The Spotlight” Contest, artist and composer Melinda Ortner has been been writing and performing all over the world, garnering over 1.5 million streams on Spotify. She recently was the co-recipient of a Gold award at the Loeries for "High On You", a short film of which she composed the music for. Her songs can also be heard in Paramount Pictures' "American Pie: Book Of Love", “I Hate Valentine’s Day”, “My Mother The Monster” and “Gone With The River”, the last two having been the theme songs and titles for the film. She recently collaborated with Grammy-winning producer Jimmy Harry and Rob Davis, who have written for Madonna, Pink, Kylie Minogue, and more. Raised in Northern California, she is often L.A. based but a self-professed anglophile, having built a fan base in the U.K. She was nominated for an L.A. Music Award for Best Pop Artist, and was 1 of 4 finalists in Koffeehouse's Best Indie Artist Awards. Melinda has also toured Japan, North America, and Europe, opening for Joe Jonas, Miguel, and Cobra Starship, performed at SXSW, Iceland Airwaves, and several U.K. festivals. She was voted Best Of Sundance Film Festival two years consecutively, while being chosen as 1 of 25 hand-picked songwriters to be part of the ASCAP Johnny Mercers songwriters week in Chicago. She recently penned her first big writing cut in the KPOP world for pop star Amanda's, “Hide And Seek”, which hit major radio just this past fall 2019.
