Eighteen year old Nickcarlos Gordon, otherwise known as Portal is an exuberant, rising star who is determined to make his mark in the dancehall arena. Though music wasn’t always a part of his early life, Nickcarlos has successfully nurtured a newfound love for music which has now blossomed into a passion that demands to be heard. Born on December 29, 2003, in the inner city community of Waterhouse, he has, in true Capricorn fashion found a way to rise above life’s challenges and to transmit that experience into his music in such a way that has the younger population gravitating to and readily identifying with his lyrics. Nickcarlos is the eldest child of three for his mother, and the youngest of three for his father. He was raised in a single-parent family setting which prepared him for the challenges which would become inspiration for the lyrics in his musical craft. His musical journey began at the age of sixteen immediately after leaving his alma mater, Bridgeport High School, when a close friend introduced him to the music business. Nickcarlos chose to call himself ‘Portal’, as he views himself as a channel through which the unique perspectives of his generation can be heard and appreciated by the world at large. His music can be described as a new generation hybrid - bold, brash, irreverent even, which is totally reminiscent of the ideals embraced by the millennials, a generation to which he belongs.
