It can be really hard to put a label on Mates at first listen. Being raised on 90’s and 2000’s hip-hop and rock while coming out during peak SoundCloud has left him with a nice blend of really knowing how to rap while really wanting to experiment. Recently he’s even found himself dabbling with some UK Drill production after moving to London with his latest releases - FUN FACTS and SW9 x 313. If you’re a fan of late 2010’s hip-hop and beyond it’s safe to say he’s probably got a song for you. 
 Toomuchmates was born in Dearborn, Michigan in the mid-late 90’s and grew up around Metro Detroit. During his early years he found his initial love for music through local radio stations like 97.9 WJLB and Channel 955 along with other songs his parents would play for him on car rides to and from the city. Rapping came natural to Mates and as a kid he’d freestyle with his friends religiously. He attended Howell High School and started recording remixes to popular tracks at friends houses. Throughout and after high school music became something more and more serious in his life and eventually led to him dropping out of college and quitting baseball to pursue it full time. Since 2016 life’s taken Mates from Michigan on to South Florida, Los Angeles, and now London, England putting a unique twist on his Midwest cadence.
