Biography

Pau Marquès i Oleo, born in Ciutadella de Menorca, is a multifaceted cellist, chamber musician, composer and arranger with a penchant for interdisciplinary projects. Driven by a desire to explore beyond classical music's conventional boundaries, Pau thrives in small ensemble settings where exchange of ideas and close human contact fuel his artistic endeavors. Drawing inspiration from his cherished memories and the rich folk traditions of Menorca, Pau infuses his compositions with a deeply personal perspective, melding classical training with innovative exploration. His artistic vision transcends the confines of tradition, venturing into uncharted realms where music intertwines seamlessly with words, movement, and imagery. As a founding member of the Belinfante Quartet, Pau brings his innovative spirit to European concert halls and music festivals. Pau Marquès i Oleo's artistic journey is characterized by a relentless pursuit of innovation and a dedication to enhancing the emotional and narrative depth of music through interdisciplinary collaboration. He holds a Bachelor of Music from Liceu Conservatory, Barcelona, and Master's degrees from HKU-Utrecht Conservatory, with prestigious cellist Timora Rosler, and HMTMH Hannover, with his mentor Oliver Wille (Kuss Quartet). His postgraduate studies at NSKA under Marc Danel further enhance his artistry and musical exploration.
