Born and raised in beautiful Nassau, Bahamas, Recording Artist David ‘Funky D’ Ferguson grew up in a Christian home and honed his vocal skills singing in the church. He began performing secular music in small clubs around Nassau and got his first big break in singing a band called “Sweet Love”. However, it was his electrifying dance moves that led to an invitation to join the group “Backstabbers”. The Backstabbers popularity grew around town and during one of the group’s performances, a young Funky D caught the attention of fellow Bahamian music artist and songwriter Kirkland ‘KB’ Bodie who was so inspired by David’s energetic dance moves that he wrote a song about him entitled “Crazy Boyo”. Funky D recorded the song when he became a solo artist and “Crazy Boyo” quickly became a massive hit in The Bahamas and his signature song which he continues to perform for audiences to this day. Throughout the evolution of his extensive music career – from band member, to band lead vocalist, to solo artist - Funk D has built a reputation for being a crowd favourite and a dynamic entertainer. A contemporary artist and the quintessential “party starter”, his music is filled with happiness and good vibes. Funky D loves the rich culture of The Bahamas and his sound is heavily influenced by Bahamian music - Rake n Scrape, Goombay and Junkanoo.
