Born in Santiago de Chile, he starts his studies in classical guitar in 1987, which is supplemented in 1996 by the subject of composition with Prof. Pablo Aranda and the subject of electroacoustic music with Prof. Edgardo Cantón at the Universidad de Chile. He graduates in 2003 with “magna cum laude”. His thesis "Iax-aus" deals with the extinction of the Yámana and their language and is published in 2004 on the CD "Iax-Aus Káitek" (FONDART). In 2005 he receives a scholarship from the Chilean government ("Scholarship of the President of the Republic"), leaves for Saarbrücken and completes his postgraduate studies with honours at the University for Music at Saarbrücken with Prof. Theo Brandmüller and Prof. Dr. Stefan Litwin. In 2009 he receives the award “FOND-ART” for his “2_Live” (composition) project in Santiago de Chile and the prize “Mention Special” in the 15th composition competition “2nd August ” in Bologna (Italy) for his piece of music “I had a brother” for orchestra and soprano. In 2013 he receives a grant from the Federal Government for the German Study Center in Venice and a scholarship from the state capital of Saarbrücken. The cultural award for music of the Saarbrücken Regional Association follows in 2016. Daniel Osorio is the founder of the "Saarbrücken Days for Electroacoustic and Visual Music - eviMus" and the collectives for intercultural new music - Die Cronopien.
