Elephant Gun is a 9-piece collective from Chicago, IL. The group was formed by Jared Olson, Ryan Wizniak, Jim Drake, Paul Chivari, and Jon Olson in 2007. Their sound was originally described as “slam down” country punk with heavy leanings on Bruce Springsteen and American roots music. After a string of high-energy performances at DIY spots, the band cut it’s first full length titled KP and released it on Cassette Deck Media in 2008. They then added Amy Franco, Evan Porter, Zach LaBomascus, and Justin Past to the lineup and immediately recorded Beartime Stories in 2009 (CDMC). The band found itself playing some amazing shows as well as replacing Franco with Katie Chivari. In 2011, they released their third LP titled Kid Scissors (CDMC). The album expanded their orchestral folk-punk sound with Jazz, Classical, and 60’s influences. 2012 found members working in other projects, Ryan started Meat Wave , Jon started Rad Payoff, Jared joined Post Child, and Jim formed Jaime Rojo. By 2014, EG self-released their 4th LP called Castle Boots (2014) and was soon pressed onto tape by Berserk Records in 2015. EGCB played with 70’s Prog and cinematic textures. Paul Chivari and Evan Porter left the group, Adam Engers of Dr Manhattan and Tim Koelling joined. They followed up with a collection of b-sides named E-Sides in 2016 and in 2017 Jared released his first solo album as Thin Swimmer. Eat the House was recorded and mixed entirely by the band and released on In The Lake Records in 2018
