The proverbial Book of Olga – not yet half complete but compared to the populous, voluminous and overflowing with a lifetime of music, work, study, love, loss and passion of Olga Wilhelmine Munding; corroborating the principle that fiction sometimes pales in comparison to truth. Rivaling the impressive earlier bio of the former “Blues Babe” turned actress/stunt will be a Herculean effort. But, that’s why we’re here – to map Olga Wilhelmine Munding’s perpetual metamorphosis – which is, in a word, provocative. With a nod to ‘Benjamin Button’ let’s blaze her path in reverse order; with this chapter perhaps aptly titled: “Taking Flight – Literally.” You see, metaphorical flight and versatility have been perpetual themes in Olga’s life for over a quarter of a century. However, her literal flight originated in 2014 when the blues singer/musician/producer/actress was endowed with a skydiving excursion, compliments of a colleague who was grateful for ukulele lessons she had given on a movie set in her hometown of New Orleans. Although born in San Francisco, no other resident personifies New Orleans like Olga. So now, skydiving and Jelly Roll – Olga’s horse who is accommodated in Poplarville, Mississippi – consume the versatile musician’s love and life… to an extent. Also on her most recent to-do list is a matter-of-fact, “hell yeah I can do that” foray into voiceovers for Amazon.com (Audible). Somehow the fit seems perfect for the smoky-alto singer/actress.
