Tobe Baer is a singer/songwriter from the San Francisco area. Born to a family of two musicians, the 28-year-old was exposed to musical expression since the day he was born. His German mother, a singer, and his Canadian father, a blues guitarist and songwriter, impressed upon him an deep appreciation and love for music and the arts. Living and travelling around the world, with his family as a kid and later on his own, Tobe picked up a variety of musical influences which would later define his songwriting and musical style. After working in special education for three years, and after some soul-searching, Tobe decided to pursue the thing he was truly passionate about, he quit his job and moved to Germany, where he stayed in his brother’s recording studio for nearly a year. There Tobe spent his time honing his technique and writing music, and he and his brother recorded a number of demos. In 2018, Tobe moved to Brooklyn, where he currently resides. Tobe’s music is fresh and groove-oriented, mixing a blend of old school Motown sound, with European techno and British production sensibility with his smooth, rich and distinct voice. His approach to his music is sensual and realistic; he sings about friends, girlfriends, aspirations, frustrations and everyday life in a big city, with the inner complexities we all feel, chiming in.
