Fancy Truth is a South African rap artist based in Bangkok, Thailand. Drawing influence from the likes of Lupe Fiasco, Childish Gambino and others, his style fuses playful narratives with intricate wordplay. His debut single, “Bubble Boy” (feat. Wax Beach) was released in late 2020, and gives us a peek into the life and struggles of people who are trying to navigate the world of relationships and dating during a global crisis. It was well-received locally, with it being playlisted and featured on radio stations across South Africa. 'Bubble Boy' even managed to grab the number 1 spot on a Top 40 radio chart show. New opportunities led Fancy Truth to a move abroad. Written and recorded in Bangkok, Thailand, his second single, 'Here We Go Again' explores the topic of overcoming obstacles whilst continuing with one's daily routine. Produced by Cape Town's Soulful Clay, known for his signature R&B and Soul sound, 'Here We Go Again' provided Fancy Truth with a canvas to showcase a different side of his artistry. Fancy Truth’s latest single, ‘Hypnotised’ features the talents of Cape Town Hip Hop artist and producer, CHARLY SEVEN. The song tells the story of how falling in love can affect one’s mind, causing them to do and say things that are out of character. Sometimes, we try to play it cool instead of expressing our deepest thoughts and feelings.
