Hecto, born Hector Ruiz in Ciego de Avila, Cuba is a Latin American Hiphop recording artist. In 1999 Hecto and his parents left Cuba after his father found himself at odds with the Castro regime, and relocated to Antioch, TN. He began writing music at the age of 13 as a hobby, which would eventually develop into a passion. Hecto was incarcerated in 2016 and again in 2017 where he was sentenced to, and completed a 6 year term. His early style was influenced by Latin rappers such as Tego Calderon, Hector el Father and Orishas as well as Cypress Hill, alongside US based artists including 2pac and Dmx. He has always had a deep love for southern rap. Hecto has toured nationally in the US as direct support for Riff Raff AKA Jody Highroller, he has released 3 projects to date including “Immigrant” (EP 2014), “Money Grows on trees” (LP 2016), and “Conspiracy” (LP 2020), as well as multiple monthly singles including “Criminal Covenant” song and music video featuring Yelawolf, & Riff Raff in December of 2023.
