Kjartan Ólafsson is one of Iceland‘s well known composers and researcher. His work in research in composition is internationally well known and music by him has been performed in all major festivals in his field. Kjartan received his Licentia doctorand (LicMus) from the Sibelius Academy in 1995. Kjartan is nowadays a renowned Icelandic musicologist, a notable composer and an authority on AI in classical music composition; he has served as Professor of Composition and Theory at Iceland Academy of the Arts but is currently conducting artistic research of using AI in composition. He currently works as a composer, and CEO of Erki-Tónlist sf and director of the research project CALMUS Automata.
