Blending desolate, ambient melodies, piercing drums, and distorted basslines with somber, layered vocals, zaya draws inspiration from every corner of sound, presenting the listener with what he describes as the sound of electronic heartbreak. With the primary objective of deconstructing and navigating around the barriers of modern music as we know it to be today, zaya’s sound is the product of growing up infatuated with the internet, through which he gained unlimited access to popular and obscure musical communities alike, greatly inspiring how he would eventually shape his ever-changing musical style. In 2017, zaya would find online success in his works with Red Mirror's own Fifty Grand, and Ginseng. A notable track from this period is “exist in me”, his re-work of Fifty's “Scary All Over”, which garnered millions of streams online. His sound has since developed over time and he has found himself collaborating with many distinguishable underground artists and producers throughout his musical ventures, some of his favorites being miniskirt, Eric North, Zotiyac, and Icy Rotten’s Swerzie.
