Biography

Caroline Gélinas was named 2017-18 Révélation Radio-Canada in the classical category. After studying at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal she became an artist-in-residence at the Opéra de Montréal’s Atelier Lyrique. She has received awards from the Stingray Rising Star program, the Hnatyshyn Foundation, Fondation Jacqueline Desmarais, Jeunesses Musicales of Canada Foundation, and the Art Song Foundation of Canada. On stage, she has sung the title role in Carmen with the Atelier Lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal; Siebel in Faust ( Société d’Art Lyrique du Royaume); Nada in Svadba (Opéra de Montréal); Mercedes in Carmen (Opéra de Québec); Die Schleppträgerin in Elektra and Mère Jeanne in Dialogue des Carmélites (Opéra de Montréal); and the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors (Atelier Lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal). She has also sung the roles of Dorabella in Così fan tutte (Highands Opera Studio); Stéphano in Roméo et Juliette by Gounod and Musette in La Bohème by Leoncavallo (Canadian Vocal Arts Institute and the International Vocal Art Institute in New York); Dido in Dido and Aeneas and Miss Todd in The Old Maid and the Thief by Menotti (Conservatoire de musique de Montréal). In concert, as well as giving numerous recitals of mélodies and lieder, Caroline Gélinas has performed as soloist in Rachmaninoff`s Vespers, Handel’s Messiah, Rossini’s La Petite messe solennelle, Mozart’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria and his Magnificat, and Bruckner’s Mass No. 3 in F minor. <br>
