Biography

THE SLACKSONS are a Bristol UK based 5 piece band, making an eclectic mix of music which crosses genres and taps into the rich legacy of British music. Influences range from Blur, The Streets & Gorillaz through to Ian Dury and even a little Beck for that Transatlantic edge. When Michael Cleverley (writer and vocalist), met Andy Childs (writer, producer, DJ and vocals) who under his Elevator Suite moniker, received numerous 'Records of the Week' on Radio 1, and a plethora of press and industry fans. He was keen to explore new avenues, so they agreed to write together and something quite magical happened. Roll on 2020, and this new partnership with frontman Mikeys unique vocals, a cross between Terry Hall, Damon Albarn and Ian Dury, added to Andys amazing writing and production skills, along with a group of like minded musicians, they hooked up in a Bristol studio for a cheeky jam session, wrote their first song ’Stormy Weather' and The Slacksons were born! They are a fantastic live band, and never fail to raise the roof! Their album showcase gig at the Troubadour in London, was a great success and generated lots of interest, including a live performance and interview in late February on BBC Radio 5 with Laura Whitmore to promote their debut album (Out November 24th 2023). Several tracks from the album have received plays on BBC Radio, BBC introducing and other UK and international radio stations with accolades from FatBoy Slim, Jazzie B and Craig Charles among others
