Biography

Ignacy Zalewski (b. 21.09.1990), composer, conductor, prize-winner of over a dozen awards on international and national composers' competitions. He graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, where he studied composition with prof. Marcin Blazewicz (2009-2014). He developed his compositional skills during individual lessons with prof. Krzysztof Penderecki. Since 2014 he works as a lecturer at Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, since 2015 as an Assistant Professor. In concert season 2013-2014 Ignacy Zalewski was a composer-in-residence of Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra, in 2016-2017 – composer-in-residence of Swietokrzyska Philharmonic in Kielce. Since 2009 he also performs as a conductor dedicated to new music. In 2013-2018 he has been a member (as a conductor and composer) of new music Hashtag Ensemble. He has conducted world premieres and/or performances of pieces by Peter Maxwell Davies, Louis Andriessen, Michael Beil, Paweł Buczyński, Dariusz Przybylski, Wojciech Błażejczyk, Katarzyna Szwed, Adam Przybylski and himself. His pieces were performed in Poland, Germany, Norway, Russia, Japan, Slovenia, Hungary, Estonia, Bulgaria, Vietnam, Singapore. His pieces were recorded on over a dozen CDs.
