Brooklyn native Kenyatta (or Pen-yatta as known to the underground music scene) made his mark through his unique ability to tell anyones story, quickly becoming the go to writer for some of New York’s hottest up and coming acts. His love for Hip Hop and R&B birthed a unique style of writing. Every song features verses rich enough in metaphors that the topics became emotionally ubiquitous to all listeners and hooks catchy enough to draw in the masses. “Words mean everything to me. There’s something about the way you can tell a story that lasts, that has impact, fitting a whole timeline in under 3 minutes and thats where the flow and vibe of hip hop music really comes into play.” 
 The presence of Hip-Hop isn’t solely in his writing- it is also felt through his hunger and drive. “There’s a hunger in MC’s that R&B singers don’t always have.” However when it comes to R&B, Kenyatta found inspiration from artist and writers such as Raphael Saadiq, Ne-yo, and Trey Songz. After years of crafting harmonies for the voices of others, Kenyatta finally decided to step into his own artistry. Although reluctant at first, it became evident that when it comes to a calling, eventually you’ll have to answer. His latest single “Addicted” can be found on all streaming platforms with the debut EP to follow this spring.
